Teni was supposed to be on Made in Lagos instead of Tems - Would she have been better?

Although Wizkid didn’t start featuring female artists until his second album, in the past few years the Starboy has done a handful of them.

Of course, it is the dream of any Nigerian artist – male or female – to be on a song with what is arguably the biggest artist in the whole of Africa.

Since he featured Seyi Shay on his “Ayo” album in 2014, he has gone on to work with a number of female singers, both local and international.

Tiwa Savage happens to be the woman he’s worked with the most. Over a period of three years, they did three sings together (“Bad,” “Ma Lo,” “Dis Love") and Tiwa even acted as a vixen for his 2018 hit, “Fever.” The chemistry was undeniable.

Internationally, Wizkid has worked with artists like Zara Larsson, Bucie, Justine Skye and Beyonce! His last album, “Made in Lagos” had such female singers as H.E.R, Ella Mai and of course, our Stargirl, Tems.

What most people don’t know is that Tems was not the only Nigerian girl that was supposed to be on the album. The other lady that was almost a guest artist on the biggest album of 2020 was Teni.

Recall that around 2019 Teni was seen hanging around with Wizkid, even sparking some dating rumours. Actually what happened is that they did a song – or some songs – together during that period. One of the songs was supposed to appear on Wizkid‘s fourth studio album, but in the end, it didn’t make it.

According to sources close to Wizkid, the song was taken off the album because it was a song produced by Northboi, who produced “Soco” for Wizkid but later had a clash with the Starboy. I think if the song made the album, it’ll be better than “Essence” and would have been Teni‘s biggest song ever.

What do you think?
