Nigerian singer Olugbenga Oluwafemi Dawodu, popularly known as Mr Real, has publicly defended dancer Poco Lee amid ongoing sexual assault accusations.

He alleged that visiting Nigerian artistes are often targeted in extortion setups abroad.

In a video shared on his social media platforms, the "Legbegbe" crooner expressed skepticism regarding the claims made by rapper Ms Jorji and others, sharing a past experience in London where he claims he was blackmailed under similar circumstances.

Poco Lee might just be a victim of what almost cost my career. "I believe 100 percent that guy didn't do it," Mr Real declared.

Recounting an incident during a performance trip to the United Kingdom, Mr Real detailed how he was falsely accused of assault by a lady who had been invited to have a ‘good time’ with him.

"I was in the UK for a show. After the show the organiser wanted to show me a good time and suggested bringing some ladies over," he recalled.

"So the ladies came, by then we had some drinks and were chatty. Then a lady and I went somewhere private and I was chatting with her. So I was giving her compliments and touching her cheeks.

" All of a sudden her demeanor changed and she started yelling at me. She then took an electric appliance and smashed it,” he added.

The singer explained that after the organizer intervened to mediate, he was informed that the woman threatened to contact law enforcement unless she received a financial settlement.

"He then came back and told me the lady was threatening to report me to the police unless we resolved it. I was confused and shocked. I didn't want any issues so I asked him to find a way to resolve it. He then chatted with the lady again and said she was demanding £10,000," Mr Real stated.

"I told him I didn't have such an amount. All I had was the £5,000 I had been paid for the gig. He took it and went to give it to the lady before they left."

Based on his past experience, Mr Real suggested that some allegations against touring African artistes are coordinated attempts to extract money or gain social media traction.

"So due to my experience, Poco Lee might be innocent in all this. Some of these girls even work with organisers to trap visiting celebrities," he argued.

Addressing recent online testimonies by US based rapper, Ms Jorji, he said, "Forget what that Ms Jorji is saying, she's a content creator."
