A new controversy has erupted online after Nigerian philanthropist King Mitchy publicly challenged social activist Martins Vincent Otse, well known as VeryDarkMan over the pace of projects funded through his NGO, Voice of the Voiceless.
In a viral clip shared on X, Mitchy addressed the activist directly, stating that while she holds no personal grudge against him, she believes he needs to act more swiftly on funds donated by Nigerians, reportedly amounting to hundreds of millions of naira, particularly for school renovation initiatives.
Her remarks come amid renewed scrutiny of VeryDarkMan’s NGO activities. The activist gained prominence in 2024 and 2025 through high-profile fundraising campaigns, including a reported ₦140 million donation from Grammy-winning artiste Burna Boy, aimed at humanitarian causes such as school renovations, borehole projects, and empowerment programs.
Supporters credit him with completed interventions in states like Plateau and Delta, as well as regular empowerment disbursements and social advocacy efforts. However, critics, including Mitchy, argue that the progress on school renovations appears slow compared to the scale of funds raised.
Mitchy, who recently completed a school renovation project in Delta State within six days, suggested that such initiatives should not take extended periods. She also reportedly offered to provide locations of schools in need to help fast-track the process.
