Controversial social commentator Martins Vincent Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), will have a private meeting with Eze Dr. Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu, a leader of the Igbo community in Ghana, on Thursday, September 11, in Accra.

The meeting, which will involve other key stakeholders, will focus solely on the challenges facing Nigerian traders who continue to experience difficulties with their Ghanaian counterparts in various regions of Ghana.

Recall that VDM is currently in Ghana to meet traders whose shops were recently closed at Abossey Okai, Ghana's largest spare parts market.

In a video shared on his Instagram page, he indicated that he is in Ghana to engage Nigerians who have been labelled as fraudsters and accused of being promiscuous. He also mentioned that Ghanaians have asked Nigerians to vacate the country due to their alleged dubious activities, which prompted his visit to investigate the truth.

On Monday, September 8, Ghanaian spare parts dealers at Abossey Okai in Accra issued a warning to foreign nationals operating in the enclave to vacate their shops or risk being forcefully removed.

At a press conference, the traders insisted that the spare parts trade is legally reserved for Ghanaians and accused foreigners of violating investment laws by taking over spaces meant for locals.

Another dealer compared the situation to Nigeria, insisting that Ghana was failing to enforce its laws.

“You can’t just walk into a spare parts shop in Lagos and start business, you can’t. I’ve been there to buy spare parts. You only go there as a wholesaler, not as a retailer. Even before you start trading, the amount you pay for licensing is very high. It’s not that easy, and that’s why only a few can afford to do it. We also have the laws here in Ghana, but we are not using them,” he said.
