Former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has said he has a strong bond with the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
This was as he shared a video of himself hugging Kanu at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday.
He captioned the video, "Finally, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and I met at the Federal High Court today. The man is powerful and unrelenting. We greeted and hugged and the bond is strong! #FreeNnamdiKanuNow."
See video below.
On Wednesday, Sowore revealed that one of Kanu's lawyers, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, his brother Emmanuel Kanu, Barrister Wisdom Okere, and 10 others "were arrested and brutalised" by the Nigeria Police Force for participating in a peaceful #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest at Kuje Prison.
In a post on X, Sowore stated that despite the challenges they face, they remain in high spirits as they continue to push for their release to fight against oppression.
"Unfortunately, the @FCT_PoliceNG Command further maltreated them after we parted ways on Monday, by heavily unleashing tear gas against them within their premises before detaining them at the notorious #SARS Abattoir.
"This is highly condemnable, and we will continue to demand the release of Barrister Aloy Ejimakor," knocking the "Nigeria Police Force Police, Kayode Egberokun, for his irresponsible leadership."
MyNigeria reported that Sowore organised the protest for the release of Kanu from detention.
Kanu is facing charges bordering on terrorism and treasonable felony. He's currently in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).
