Veteran Nollywood actor Yemi Solade has admitted that he was once paid to pose as a physically disabled person as part of a staged healing miracle in a church, long before he became a household name in the Nigerian film industry.

The actor made the confession during an interview with Feel Right News TV, published on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. According to Solade, the incident took place when he was still a student, yet to break into acting or gain any recognition in the entertainment scene.

He recounted that he was approached to feign a physical disability as part of a purported miracle healing and agreed to go along with it in exchange for money.

"I have been used for miracle then, when I was not popular. I acted as a cripple, they paid, I used the money to drink, then I was a student. The people involved are still alive; I don't just want to mention names," Solade said.

The actor stopped short of naming the church or the individuals allegedly behind the staged miracle, only confirming that those involved are still alive.

The revelation has since stirred conversation online, with many reacting to the veteran actor's candour about an era of his life he had long kept private.
