Iwobi shines in Everton's thrilling draw against Leeds United

Nigeria’s Alex Iwobi featured in Everton’s thrilling 2-2 with Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday.

The former Arsenal attacking midfielder was named among the starting eleven by Coach Rafael Benitez for the game.

Iwobi was deployed to the right side of the midfield, while Richarlison played from the left and Demarai Gray was handed the number 10 role.

Although the Nigerian international is still searching for his first goal of the season, he gave a very good account of himself, before he was withdrawn in the 75 minutes.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin out Everton in from on the half-hour mark, but Leeds restored parity eleven minutes later when Mateusz Klich scored with his right foot.

Demarai Gray restored Everton’s lead with a left-foot finish, five minutes into the second and Dominic Calvert-Lewin should have put the game beyond the hosts three minutes later when he found himself one on one with Illan Meslier but failed to score.

The Toffees were made to pay for the missed chance, as Raphinha scored with the left foot in the 72nd minutes to snatch a point for Leeds United.
