Serie A: Napoli did not treat me badly – Osimhen buries the hatchet on TikTok controversy

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has revealed that he has put the dispute surrounding Napoli's TikTok video behind him.

The 24-year-old, who recently clinched the African Player of the Year award, addressed the incident where he was ridiculed in a video posted by Napoli's official TikTok account following a missed penalty against Bologna in September.

Osimhen's agent, Roberto Calenda, had even threatened legal action against Napoli during that period. However, Osimhen has now described the TikTok debacle as a "stupid error" and emphasized that neither the club nor its president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, mistreated him.

In a media statement, the former Lille star clarified, "I was not treated badly by Napoli or De Laurentiis. I’m sorry to say this word, but it was a stupid error from somebody who thought he could use a thing like that to joke at a crucial moment."

Despite initial discontent, Osimhen expressed gratitude for the support he received from De Laurentiis, his son Edoardo, and many others at the club.

"They explained the situation, and even the person responsible for it was really nice to me. That was the most important thing. I spoke to that person, and he proved to be deeply sorry. Everything has been solved, so I am happy with them. Now I look to the future to leave it behind. This story belongs to the past," he added.

With six goals in 14 appearances for the Serie A champions, Osimhen is now focused on his footballing journey and is eager to put the TikTok controversy behind him.
