Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has shared his thoughts on Atlético Madrid’s draw against Stuttgart in the UEFA Champions League.
Lookman came off the bench at half-time to set up Julián Álvarez for Atlético Madrid’s equaliser after Jamie Leweling had given the home side the lead in the 36th minute.
Diego Simeone’s side were later reduced to 10 men at the MHPArena following Morten Hjulmand’s sending-off in the 64th minute.
“They [Stuttgart] obviously started strong. Playing away from home is never easy, but we wanted to try and change the tide in the second half, which we did with the goal, and we kept on pushing,” Lookman said after the game.
The former Atalanta man lauded his team’s resilience in holding on to the point after going down to 10 men.
“Obviously, it is unfortunate that we went down to 10 men, but we dug in, we showed our fight, stuck together, and we take a point away from home,” he added.
The former African Footballer of the Year also described Julián Álvarez as a dangerous striker in the penalty area while discussing his assist for the Argentine international.
“I just tried to look out for him in the box, and you know, he’s deadly in the box, so yeah, new goal.”
