Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has shed light on what accounted for his side’s defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League.

The Parisians secured another statement win with a 4-2 victory over the Spanish champions at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday night.

Désiré Doué gave the visitors the lead in the 38th minute before Xavi Espart equalised for the Blaugrana 10 minutes into the second half.

Lucas Hernández restored PSG’s lead in the 72nd minute before Lamine Yamal restored parity for Barcelona seven minutes later.

Vitinha restored the Parisians’ lead two minutes later before Fabián Ruiz hammered the final nail into the coffin of the defending champions with four minutes left on the clock.

The defeat was the first for Hansi Flick’s side this season after they had won all 11 of their matches in La Liga and the Champions League.

Speaking at a post-match press conference, the German tactician stated that his side made too many mistakes in possession and had not had the best preparation ahead of the game.

“We have committed too many mistakes in this game, especially in possession and with easy losses of the ball.

“We have to learn from this match. You don’t win titles in October. The Champions League is won in June.

“They have a lot of quality in transition. We tried to defend against them, and we did it well, but in those last 15 minutes we weren’t fresh.

“We didn’t have the best preparation for this game. We have to analyse it and do things better.”
