2023 AFCON: Ex- Super Eagles star Mikel Obi predicts winner

Former Nigerian international John Mikel Obi has tipped the Super Eagles to win the 2023 African Cup of Nations.

Nigeria were pitted alongside hosts Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau in Group A during the draw on Thursday, October 12.

The Super Eagles last won the AFCON ten years ago in South Africa after beating Burkina Faso by a lone goal in the grand finale.

In a video shared by CAFonline via X formerly Twitter, the ex-Chelsea midfielder stated that the AFCON trophy will be coming home to Nigeria.

“This is coming home. The tournament is coming home, AFCON 2023 is coming home to Nigeria.” Mikel Obi said.

The tournament will kick off on January 13, 2024.
