'A joke taken too far' - Kaduna Speaker condemns Kajuru Emir’s abduction

Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Yusuf Ibrahim Zailani has condemned the latest act by bandits in the northern state.

Zailani who was reacting to the kidnap of Emir of Kajuru, Adamu Kajuru and 10 members of his family said it was a joke taken too far.

He made the disclosure in a statement signed by his special adviser on media and publicity, Ibrahim Dahiru Danfulani on Sunday, July 11.

The speaker urged members of the public to remain calm, adding that in view of his important role security agencies will ensure the safe return of the monarch and his family, Vanguard reports.

The Police Command in Kaduna confirmed the abduction of the Emir of Kauru, Alhaji Alhassan Adamu, and ten members of his immediate family were abducted by armed bandits in the early hours of Sunday, July 11.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige said in a statement that, “The incident occurred about 0234hrs when armed wielding bandits in large numbers invaded Kajuru town, shot sporadically and gained access into the Chief’s residence where they abducted him and ten members of his immediate family to an unknown destination.”

The Command said it is saddened with the incident and it’s not relenting in ensuring a lasting solution to the current upsurge of criminality in the state, Daily Post reports.
