Popular Nigerian media personality Oladotun Ojuolape Kayode, widely known as Do2dtun, has publicly commended renowned gospel minister Nathaniel Bassey for his decision not to monetise his official YouTube channel, despite its monumental reach and profit potential.

Do2dtun took to X on November 2, 2026 to praise the singer following the landmark achievement of surpassing one billion all-time views on his YouTube platform, a milestone largely propelled by the global popularity of his midnight praise and worship programme, the Hallelujah Challenge.

Highlighting Bassey's humility and commitment to spiritual ministry, Do2dtun emphasized that the channel was built strictly as a vehicle for soul-winning rather than commercial enterprise.

"He creates a platform to win souls; he does it with the utmost humility... He created a platform that would have made him 'cool money' on a daily basis, but he didn’t. He created it for just one purpose," Do2dtun wrote.

The media personality's remarks ignited a wider debate across social media regarding the intersection of ministry and revenue. While many fans applauded

Bassey’s dedication to keeping worship spaces free from commercial distractions, others suggested that channeling potential ad revenues into philanthropic initiatives, such as supporting widows, orphans, and rural healthcare, could amplify his impact.

Created by Nathaniel Bassey, the virtual midnight praise session has evolved into a global movement, drawing millions of simultaneous online participants from across Africa, Europe, and the Americas.
