Nigerian singer and entrepreneur Oluwatosin Ajibade, popularly known as Mr Eazi, has shared how a scheduling conflict caused him to miss a golden opportunity to meet his lifelong mentor, American hip-hop icon and business mogul Jay-Z.

Speaking in a recent interview with BBC Focus On Africa, Mr Eazi explained that following his contribution to Beyoncé’s star-studded 2019 project, The Lion King: The Gift album, he received an invitation to attend the movie's premiere—an event where Jay-Z was slated to be in attendance.

However, prior professional commitments forced him to pass up the red-carpet appearance.

"I look up to Jay-Z in both music and entrepreneurship. I worked with Beyoncé on the Lion King music project. I was supposed to go to the movie premiere. Jay-Z was going to be there. But I was already paid to perform at a concert. So, I was like, 'Okay, if I am meant to meet Jay-Z, it would happen another time'," Mr Eazi recounted.

Despite missing the high-profile encounter, the "EmPawa Africa" founder remains optimistic that an opportunity to connect with the Roc Nation boss will eventually materialize.

Shifting focus to his flourishing corporate portfolio, the artiste-turned-entrepreneur highlighted his expanding business footprint across the continent, noting that his commercial ventures and long-term sports investments now span more than 20 African countries.
