Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has warned men against relying financially on their wives.

Speaking during a recent appearance on Bae U's popular show, Curiosity Made Me Ask, the actor doubled down on his traditional stance regarding marriage, gender roles, and family hierarchy

When questioned about the concept of men becoming stay-at-home husbands, Edochie strongly dismissed the idea.

"Don't pray for your wife to feed you. If you get into such a situation, you'd like to take poison and die," Edochie warned during the episode.

The iconic actor also revisited his long-held, controversial views on modern marriage proposals.

Edochie argued that the practice of a man kneeling to present an engagement ring fundamentally undermines his position as the head of the household.

"If you step down on your knee and you offer a woman a ring, you are conceding headship of the family to that woman," he stated.

Despite host Bae U prompting him to reconsider or retract his rigid commentary, Edochie stood firm in his beliefs, bluntly replying, "I will not take it back."

His unfiltered remarks have once again triggered fiery discussions across social media regarding traditional African values versus modern marital dynamics.
