Reality TV personality Phyna has sparked conversation online after candidly sharing why she sometimes wishes she were a man, offering a deeper perspective on gender roles and societal expectations.
Speaking during a recent livestream, the former Big Brother Naija winner opened up about the pressures she believes women face in everyday life. She pointed out that men often appear to have a more straightforward path, largely focused on working and earning a living, while women navigate additional layers of judgment and limitations.
Phyna explained that societal standards can restrict women’s ability to dream freely or pursue their ambitions without constant scrutiny. According to her, many women find their choices questioned or criticized, creating an environment where personal decisions are frequently policed.
She further noted that beyond financial challenges, women also deal with ingrained cultural expectations, stereotypes, and unwritten rules. These factors, she suggested, play a significant role in shaping how women live, what they aspire to become, and how they are perceived especially when they challenge traditional norms.
The reality star said …
“I lowkey wish I was a man… Life is much easier for men cause it’s certain you have to work hard to make money, but for women, we’ve been stigmatized and there are so many rules & regulations covering us, like a woman is not supposed to dream big… ”
