As the world marks the International Women’s Day on March 8, 2026, singer, Reekado Banks, has shifted the spotlight from music to fatherhood, sharing personal reflections on raising a son and honouring women.

The artiste stated that one of his greatest responsibilities is nurturing a boy who understands and respects the value of women.

“One of the greatest responsibilities I have is raising a son who understands the value of women,” he said.

According to him, his life and career have been shaped by the strength of women; from those who raised him to those who support his journey, as well as the woman he loves.

Reflecting on his experiences, Reekado noted that strength is not always expressed loudly, describing it instead as sacrifice, patience and resilience.

The singer said the IWD, for him, goes beyond public celebration and calls for deliberate action and cultural change.

“If I’m going to call myself a leader, then I must raise leaders. And that begins with teaching my son to honour women; not just in words, but in action,” he said.

Reekado added that fatherhood has refined his outlook on life and responsibility. While acknowledging the weight that comes with leadership and parenting, he said growth comes from accepting responsibility and recognising the contributions of women.

Rather than symbolic gestures, the artiste emphasised consistent respect, protection and empowerment as meaningful ways to celebrate women.

“Women’s History Month shouldn’t be noise. It should be culture,” he added.
