Veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has dismissed long-standing rumours of a feud between herself and fellow screen icon Genevieve Nnaji, describing the narrative as a creation of fans and industry hype rather than reality.

Speaking during an interview on Yanga FM, Omotola explained that although the two actresses were often portrayed as rivals at the height of their careers, there was never any real conflict between them. According to her, the pressure to label one actress as “the hottest” at the time fueled unnecessary comparisons.

Omotola noted that she and Genevieve maintained normal communication behind the scenes and stressed that not being close friends does not automatically mean there is hostility.

She compared the situation to the way fans and the media now pitch top music stars against one another, saying Nollywood actresses were the first to experience that kind of rivalry narrative.

Reflecting on their early years in the industry, Omotola added that both women were simply focused on building their careers, while external perceptions exaggerated professional competition into personal conflict.

She concluded by stating that industry-generated tension is often misunderstood, and in their case, what many interpreted as a long-running feud was nothing more than people reading too much into normal professional dynamics.
