Senator Ned Nwoko has finally addressed the controversy surrounding the arrest of Ann Izuegbu Anthonet, a close friend of his estranged wife, actress Regina Daniels.

The arrest triggered heated reactions online after Regina publicly questioned its legality and accused Nwoko’s camp of using influence to target her friend. However, Nwoko’s communication team has released a statement countering those claims and offering their own version of events.

According to the statement shared on Instagram, Ann was arrested over what they described as “false and defamatory” allegations she made online, including claims that Nwoko physically assaulted his wife, Laila, and caused her to suffer a miscarriage. The team insisted these accusations were completely untrue.

They further alleged that Ann played a role in procuring an illegal abortion for Regina Daniels during her marriage to Nwoko, claiming she introduced substances that reportedly led to prolonged bleeding and the loss of an unborn child.

Nwoko’s camp also accused Ann of being involved in the handling and distribution of illegal substances, stating that a formal witness statement had already been submitted to the Maitama Police Station in October 2025.

According to them, Ann’s arrest followed a social media post they deemed threatening and defamatory to the Nwoko family, adding that security agencies are now handling the matter.

“This is not a social media dispute but a law-enforcement issue grounded in evidence, witness testimonies, and due process,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, Regina Daniels recently confirmed that arrest warrants had also been issued for her and some family members over allegations of stealing $40,000 from Nwoko’s residence.

The couple’s private conflict became public in October after Regina released a viral video accusing the senator of domestic violence. Nwoko denied the claims, instead alleging that Regina struggled with drug and alcohol addiction. While the actress admitted to drug use, she accused him of orchestrating it as a form of control.

The Nwoko family has urged the public to rely on verified information and allow law enforcement agencies to conclude their investigations.
