Nigerian rapper Zlatan Ibile has aimed at the federal government over its failure to tackle the country’s deepening economic hardship.
In a recent interview with Madame Joyce in the United Kingdom, the music star expressed frustration that Nigerians have become so accustomed to hardship that it now feels normal.
Reacting to British rapper Dave’s satirical portrayal of wealthy Nigerians partying in clubs while beggars wait outside for handouts, Zlatan said the situation reflects the government’s long-standing neglect.
“We’ve gotten used to it—suffering and smiling. That’s how it has always been, and the government isn’t doing anything about it,” he lamented.
The rapper also noted that some beggars in Nigeria have turned begging into a full-time job, despite often receiving help from generous citizens, including celebrities. He criticized the growing sense of entitlement among some of them, describing it as “annoying.”
Zlatan urged street beggars to seek more productive means of livelihood, emphasizing that hard work and self-reliance offer a path to lasting dignity and financial independence.
