Grammy-winning Nigerian global star Damini Ogulu, widely known as Burna Boy, has shared an interesting detail about his spiritual life and journey.
The "Dangote" crooner, during a Twitch live session with U.S. streamer PlaqueBoxMax, revealed that he was born into a Christian home but later converted to Islam.
Burna Boy explained that although his parents and all siblings were devoted Christians, which made him follow their spiritual practices, as he matured, his curiosity about life and spirituality led him on a personal path of discovery.
“I was born into Christianity because that’s what my parents practiced. But as I got older, I started to research more about life and faith. That was when I found Islam,” he said.
According to the Afro-fusion icon, his decision wasn’t made out of rebellion but a genuine sense of conviction and inner peace.
“It was something that came naturally to me. I just felt a connection and peace,” he added.
The revelation comes at a time when social media is buzzing with global outrage over the alleged Christian genocide in Nigeria, following viral claims that thousands of Christians have been killed in recent years.
The controversy intensified after former U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to send American troops to Nigeria if President Bola Tinubu’s government failed to address the killings.
