Nigerian actress Temi Ajibade, daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, has opened up about her decision to adopt her husband, Mr Eazi's surname.

In a recent interview with the BBC, Temi revealed that taking her husband’s name after marriage was a deeply personal decision.

“I’m now a married woman, the obvious thing for me is to take my husband’s name. But it’s my personal choice… I also respect a woman’s ability to choose,” she explained.

Recall that Temi immediately changed all her social media usernames from Temi Otedola to Temi Ajibae the day she officially got married to her long-time lover and Afrobeats star, Mr. Eazi.

Her decision quickly ignited serious debate on social media, with many applauding her for taking the right decision, even though she has the right to keep her father's name, while others questioned her decision.

Temi and Mr Eazi, whose real name is Oluwatosin Ajibade, tied the knot in an intimate wedding ceremony earlier this year, attended by close family and friends.

The couple, who have been together for several years, are known for keeping their relationship private despite their celebrity status.

According to Temi, maintaining that privacy has been key to protecting their bond.

“Moving in silence allows you to build the story you want and share it when and how you’re ready,” she noted.

Speaking about her father’s recently published memoir, the actress described it as a window into his entrepreneurial journey.

“My dad has a wealth of wisdom. I’ve been fortunate to learn from him, but I think he felt it was time for the rest of the world to understand his journey as an entrepreneur,” she said.

On growing up privileged, Temi admitted openly that her upbringing gave her an advantage in life.

“Oh, absolutely. You will never hear me deny it. It’s important for people born into privilege to acknowledge that leg up they’ve gotten in life,” she stated.

She further explained how her father’s decision not to hand over leadership of his companies to his children shaped her independence.

“At first I was disappointed… but it turned out to be a blessing because he encouraged us to forge our own paths,” she revealed, adding that her father’s resilience through challenging times remains her greatest source of inspiration.
