Popular Nigerian social media critic Daniel Regha has shared his thoughts on the brewing drama between singer May D and Wizkid's longtime associate, Tufab.

Recall that May D was one of Nigeria's biggest rising stars over a decade ago. However, his career took a downturn after parting ways with his record label.

After taking a break from the public domain for years, the singer was recently spotted performing at a local event in Lagos.

The viral video that has since gone viral captured the moment the singer was energetically performing to a very small number of fans at a local event.

The singer's moment drew mixed reactions from social media users.

Quoting the viral video, Wizkid's longtime associate, Tufab, mocked the singer, suggesting that he might be thinking he's performing at the 02 Arena.

"For May D mind, he dey perform for O2 Arena. Sold Out.” He wrote.

The comment from Tufab didn't sit well with fellow artistes like Skales, Jaywon, DJ Neptune, and even skit maker Nasboi, who quickly came to May D's defence.

Adding fuel to the discussion, controversial critic Daniel Regha argued that May D’s career might have been on par with Wizkid’s today if he had associated with the right people from the start.

He also condemned Tufab’s remarks as unnecessary ridicule.

In Regha’s words:

Wizkid and May D might be on the same level today if he (May D) associated with the right people from the beginning. His career isn’t booming at the moment, but there’s no justifiable reason why Tufab should ridicule him. And this ‘I praised you’ defense act from Tufab is gaslighting. You don’t mock someone then switch up when called out.”

The debate has since kept fans and industry watchers talking, with many weighing in on the treatment of May D and his legacy in Nigerian music.
