Celebrity chef and Guinness World Record holder Hilda Baci has reassured fans of the hygiene standards for her upcoming record-breaking jollof rice cooking attempt at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.
In a video shared on Instagram Friday, Baci was seen inside the six-metre-wide custom pot, scrubbing its interior with a branded detergent.
“Yes, I can officially confirm this pot is squeaky clean! I rolled up my sleeves and washed it myself,” she wrote, tagging the detergent company.
Playfully addressing viewers, she added:
“I know you’re about to pop your eyeballs out like, ‘Why is she inside the pot?’ Well, I need to wash it properly. Once I’m done, I’ll rinse it again and use brand-new mopsticks to clean before we start cooking.”
Baci promised the pot would be thoroughly sanitised before cooking began, assuring guests they would enjoy “the most amazing, hygienic food you’ve ever eaten.”
The event, organised in partnership with seasoning giant Gino, is expected to host over 20,000 people, as Baci attempts to set a new world record for the largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice.
This latest stunt comes after her headline-making 100-hour cooking marathon in May 2023, which shot her into global fame and secured her place in the Guinness World Records.
