Popular Nigerian TikToker and self-proclaimed financial expert Emmanuel Obruste, also known as GehGeh, casually set aside his "University of Wisdom and Understanding" persona to stir fresh debate over the age-old question of who is wealthier between footballers and musicians.
In a trending video posted on Thursday, August 28, GehGeh boldly claimed that artistes in the music industry are not only wealthier but also more globally recognized than professional footballers.
According to him, Nigerians often overrate the financial success of footballers. He pointed out that international music icons such as Jay-Z and Rihanna boast net worths that surpass those of football legends Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
GehGeh further argued that Nigerian Afrobeats superstars Davido, Burna Boy, and Wizkid are financially ahead of former Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi, whom he described as the richest footballer in the country.
He concluded by emphasizing that fame in music tends to be more enduring, unlike football careers, where popularity often fades after retirement.
"Musicians make more money than footballers. Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi are worth over 1 billion dollars, Jay Z is worth over 2.8 billion dollars, and Rihanna is worth over 1 billion. In Nigeria, Mikel Obi is worth 40 million to 45 million dollars, Wizkid is worth 50 million to 60 million dollars, Davido is worth 100 million dollars, and Burna Boy is worth 100 million. I love music fame more than football fame,” he said in part.

@Metalistix _"@official_Gegeh, depending on whether the footballer or musician has successfully built a brand empire through their skills. Take "David Beckham" as a case study. He is one of the richest footballers as of today. What you make of your successes over time is what matters."
