Nigerian rapper Omoniyi Temidayo Raphael, known professionally as Zlatan Ibile or simply Zlatan, has urged up-and-coming artistes to prioritise their mental health as they pursue fame and success in the music industry.

The “Zanku” crooner shared the advice on his social media page on Thursday, stressing that aspiring artistes and their sponsors should consider therapy expenses just as important as marketing and promotion.

On his X handle, Zlatan wrote:

“If you get brother or sister wey be fast-rising artist and you believe say he or she go blow, as una dey keep money for marketing and promo, make una dey keep therapist money for one side too cos lol!!!”

His statement echoes the growing concerns about the psychological toll of the entertainment industry, which many artistes have described as emotionally draining.

Over the years, several Nigerian musicians have publicly shared their struggles with depression while navigating fame. In 2022, for instance, singer Omah Lay revealed on X that his battle with depression worsened after he had a sexual affair with his therapist.
