The Nigerian music industry has done incredibly well when it comes to international collaborations and working with some of the biggest names in the global entertainment scene.

Artists like Dbanj, Davido, Wizkid among others have worked with some of the world’s biggest superstars and this also includes these Nigerian stars getting their songs used in Hollywood movie productions.

However, the case is quite different when it comes to Nollywood. While the conversation has always revolved around the need to take the Nigerian movie industry to an international standard, collaboration with Hollywood A-lists actors and actresses is almost nonexistent.

Perhaps, this holds to the much-debated argument that Nigerian talents may not meet up to the standards of acting in Hollywood or even perform efficiently in complex sets that are worth millions of dollars.

Well, regardless of these arguments, some Nigerian talents have made attempts to plant themselves in the international scene.

1 Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde (Hit The Floor, 2013)




The actress who is among highest-paid in Nollywood made a cameo appearance in the first season of Hit The Floor, a popular drama series.

Omotola played the role of singer Akon’s date in just one episode.

2. Davido (Coming to America 2)



Although the movie has not been released, singer Davido made a cameo appearance in it and fans have been anticipating the comedy classic.

3. Genevieve Nnajji (Farming 2018)



Genevieve featured in Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje’s directorial debut. The Nollywood actress played the role of Tolu; the second half of a Nigerian couple forced to give their infant son away.

4. Stephanie Linus (Boonville Redemption, 2016)



The Nollywood actress and filmmaker played the role of Doris in the movie. Doris was a strong compassionate woman from the 2nd generation of slave trade in America, whose parents came from Nigeria.

5. Osas Ighodaro (Where Children Play, 2015)



The actress played the role of Nia in the 2015 movie Where Children Play. She starred alongside Grammy Award winner Macy Gray, Brian White and Teyonah Parris.

6. Jim Iyke (And Then There was You, 2013)



Just like Omotola who bagged a Hollywood role in 2013, the actor also made an appearance in And Then There was You in the same year.

Iyke played the role of Zuma and starred alongside Lynn Whitfield, Garcelle Beauvais, Greg Vaughan, Leon Robinson, Kate Nauta and Trilby Glover.

7. Olu Jacobs



The respected movie star British television series and international films to his credit. Some of them include The Dogs of War, The Tomorrow People, The Goodies, Barlow at Large etc.

8. Taiwo Ajai-Lycett



Like her colleague, Olu Jacobs, the veteran movie star also has a number of British television series to her name.

Ajai-Lycett has featured in Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em, The National Health etc
