You're the first President I've ever met, I haven't even met my President - Rema to Kagame

Afrobeats singer, Rema says President Paul Kagame of Rwanda is the only president he has met in his entire life when the duo met.

The singer who was in Rwanda for the The Trace Awards attracted loud cheers when he said further that he hasn't even met his own President (Bola Tinubu).

“To be honest, this is the first president I’ve ever met in my life I have not even met my own president" he said in the video that has gone viral.

The Trace Awards is a new awards franchise created by the global TV and multimedia platform Trace, which aims to recognize African and Afro-influenced musicians from Africa and the African diasporas.

Rema won two awards winning Song of the Year for his global hit and tying for Best Global African Artist with Nomcebo.

Davido, Yemi Alade, Mr Eazi, and Diamond Platnumz where the other acts to perform on the night.

Afrobeats Pop star, Davido also claimed two awards, winning Best Male and Best Collaboration for "Unavailable," a collaboration with Musa Keys with Burna Boy receiving the Album of the Year award for "Love Damini."
