Yoruba culture should be exported globally — Yinka Quadri

A veteran actor, Yinka Quadri, is of the opinion that Yoruba culture can be exported to anywhere in the world, and it will be accepted.

In an interview with Saturday Beats, “I give glory to God, because this is what people like us had been labouring for for many years, even during the times of our late fathers (in the industry), such as Hubert Ogunde, Kola Ogunmola, Duro Ladipo and Adeyemi Afolayan. That is what they had been ‘fighting’ for, and people of my generation also put in more efforts. I thank God that younger ones, such as Femi Adebayo, Ibrahim Chatta and Odunlade Adekola, are taking it even further. I am also happy that our movies are well accepted all over the world.”

On the type of stories Nollywood needs to tell, Quadri said, “We need to propagate our culture to the rest of the world. Yoruba culture is very rich, and can be sold anywhere in the world, with good acceptance. There are still many areas of our culture that we have not even explored. As far as I’m concerned, this is just the beginning.”

Speaking on how he has stayed relevant over the years, he said, “First, one needs to be focused, dedicated and prayerful.”
