'Wizkid killed rap, wants to kill Afrobeats now' – Terry Tha Rapman

Seasoned Nigerian rapper, Terry Tha Rapman has criticized award-winning singer Ayodeji Balogun Ibrahim known as Wizkid for his recent comments that seem to be "killing" genres.

Wizkid has been under fire for criticizing Afrobeats in a recent social media post, claiming he can't be put into a single genre.

He noted that Fela created Afrobeats but he on the other hand makes a fusion of sounds hence he doesn't want to be labelled as an Afrobeats singer.

Terry Tha Rapman reacted on the X platform, recalling how Wizkid "killed" rap with his statement that "rap is dead" and how his new outburst will "kill" Afrobeats.

He warned Highlife musicians not to mess with Wizkid, saying it might be his next move.

He wrote: “First rap, now Afrobeats. How many genres Wizkid wan kill? Highlife, run o!”

In 2023, Wizkid caused an uproar on social media after saying that the rap genre was dead.

According to him, he didn't listen to rap music because the genre was dull and tiring to listen to.

Not stopping there, he stated that Nigerian rappers are broke hence he wouldn't condescend to their level.

Wizkid further said that Ghana’s Black Sherif and Sarkodie and South Africa’s Nasty C are the only rappers in Africa.
