Controversial actor Uche Maduagwu has faced heavy criticism from social media users after he called out his colleagues for not providing financial assistance to veteran actress Stella Ikwuegbi while she was alive.
Following the news of the veteran's passing, the actor took to his Instagram page to criticize his colleagues who did not acknowledge or support the veteran actress while she was alive but were now posting about her after her death.
Uche Maduagwu stated that many Nollywood performers were aware of the late actress' financial struggles but did not take any action to help her. Instead, they began posting about her death as if they genuinely cared about her.
In his post, he wrote: "Nobody posted about her when she needed financial help, but as soon as she passed away, the same colleagues who knew about her struggles rushed to share the news. Why do we act this way in Nollywood? I heard actors and producers who did not show support for Aunty Stella when she needed help are now posting about her passing."
The post angered social media users, who also questioned Uche Maduagwu about whether he had posted about the late actress while she was still alive.
On Sunday, June 16, 2024, veteran actress Stella Ikwuegbu passed away following a fierce battle with leg cancer.
Film producer Stanley Nwoko, also known as Stanley Ontop, revealed the sad news of the veteran's passing on his Instagram page.
