Popular social media critic, Martins Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan, has once again made headlines as he jets off to China on Nigeria’s Independence Day.

The outspoken activist first visited China earlier in 2025, claiming his mission was to uncover fraudulent dealings between Chinese manufacturers, suppliers, and unsuspecting Nigerian entrepreneurs.

According to him, many Nigerians have lost huge sums of money to scams disguised as business opportunities.

On Tuesday, October 1, while many Nigerians were marking the country’s 65th Independence anniversary, VeryDarkMan posted photos and videos from his latest trip.

In his caption, he emphasized that his return to China was about rekindling business contacts and creating new opportunities for young people across West Africa.

“BACK IN CHINA with my brother @china_ross_boss. I need to get back those contacts, need to create those opportunities… GOD go run am... Naija youth get ready, Ghana youth, Cameroon youths, Liberia youths, Sierra Leone youth get ready... West Africa in general, WE MOVE,” he wrote.

Beyond business, the online critic also used the occasion to air his dissatisfaction with Nigeria’s Independence Day, arguing that the country is still far from being truly free.

His latest trip has sparked fresh conversations online, coming just months after he accused the EFCC of unlawfully seizing his phone.

While some applaud his boldness and vision, others remain skeptical, accusing him of chasing clout.
