Nigerian Afrobeats musician Kizz Daniel reveals why he took break from music has opened up about the personal loss that forced him to step away from music for much of 2026.

The singer disclosed that he lost his mother this year, explaining that his absence from the music scene was not because he was preparing an album, as some fans had assumed.

Kizz Daniel made the revelation on Friday, September 25, 2026, while responding to a fan who questioned his relatively quiet presence in the music industry.

Correcting the fan’s assumption, the singer wrote on X: “I paused for my Mom not an album … Lost her this year.”

The revelation gives insight into the personal circumstances behind his break from music, as he took time away from the spotlight to deal with the loss.

Despite the grief, Kizz Daniel said he has decided to continue with his life and responsibilities, particularly for the sake of his family.

“But I gotta keep moving for the rest of the family,” he added.

The singer also apologised to his fans for his delayed return to music this year.

Kizz Daniel, known for songs including ‘Buga’, ‘Woju’ and ‘Twe Twe’, had been relatively quiet in 2026, prompting speculation among fans about whether he was working on a new project.

His latest revelation, however, shows that his break was largely motivated by the loss of his mother rather than a planned album hiatus.
