New controversy has erupted following the 2026 Grammy Awards after reports emerged that Afrobeats megastar David Adeleeke popularly known as Davido, may be done with the prestigious award ceremony for good.
The development comes after Davido suffered yet another disappointment at the 68th Grammy Awards, where he lost in the "Best African Music Performance" category, marking his fifth Grammy nomination without a win.
South African star Tyla clinched the award with her hit track "Push 2 Start," edging out strong contenders including Davido, Burna Boy, and Ayra Starr.
Reacting to the outcome, Israel DMW, a close associate and aide to Davido, took to his Instagram story to vent his frustration, suggesting that the singer’s camp had reached its breaking point with the Grammys.
In a strongly worded post, Israel accused the Recording Academy of playing “deep politics” and hinted that Davido would no longer honour invitations to the awards ceremony.
“Let them f*ck off with their Grammy of deep politics. We will no longer honour future invitations,” he wrote.
The post immediately sparked reactions online, with fans debating whether Davido is being unfairly overlooked on the global stage despite his massive influence and achievements.
