Nigerian afrobeats musician David Adeleke often known as Davido came under fire after his remark that the Nigerian economy is in a horrible situation.

In an interview, the superstar stated that the poor economic situation in Africa makes immigrants hesitant to return.

Davido brought up the rising costs of food and fuel, as well as currency changes, using Nigeria as an example.

He cautioned international investors against investing in the nation because of its faltering economy.

He said, “It is not cool back home. The economy is in shambles."

A number of Nigerians expressed their criticism of Davido's statement on social media. However, other celebrities defended the singer's statement.

Check below some personalities who supported Davido in his remarks.

1. VeryDarkMan

Social media activist Martins Otse known as VeryDarkMan also stood up for Davido by scolding TV host Nyma Akashat Zibiri for disparaging the artist for his comments.

The activist disputed Akashat Zibiri's assertion, asking her to enumerate the foreign investment Tinubu and his cabinet have brought into the nation.

VeryDarkMan contended that rather than cultivating relationships with investors, the president was more concerned with obtaining financing from overseas projects.

He asserted that Davido's claims were true because the majority of the alleged investors travel to the country to engage in illicit business dealings with politicians over its goldmines.

2. Ruggedman

Nigerian rapper Michael Ugochukwu Stephens, often known as Ruggedman defended Davido noting that some people's critical remarks won't make things better.

He acknowledged the severity of the existing problems and encouraged the government to act to improve Nigeria.

3. Paulo Okoye

Nigerian event organizer Paulo Okoye, also known as Paulo, defended Davido by telling detractors not to criticize the singer adding that Davido's remarks were true.

He drew attention to Nigeria's terrible economic state, which is marked by the departure of multinational corporations and large losses for regional businesses.

Paulo urged Nigerians to face reality and work toward a brighter future, stressing the significance of recognizing the present difficulties.

He wrote, “Please make una leave Davido alone, mad people.

Davido spoke the truth Nigeria’s current economic state is so bad. With global companies leaving and local businesses facing significant losses, it’s clear we are facing challenges. Let’s acknowledge the reality and work towards a better future. God bless Nigeria."
