Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe has addressed rumours claiming he had a romantic relationship with actress and reality TV star Bamike Olawunmi-Adenibuyan.

The speculation began circulating online after the two actors appeared together in a movie, with some social media users alleging that their on-screen chemistry reflected a real-life relationship.

Speaking during an interview with BBC Igbo, Arukwe dismissed the claims and explained that the film was actually the first time he had ever met Bambam.

According to him, he made sure to approach their scenes professionally, especially because he knew she was married.

“Before I touched her, I asked her if there was any way I could touch her that her husband wouldn’t like or that might cause problems at home,” he said.

Arukwe further explained that he usually takes such precautions when working with married colleagues.

“I usually meet my female colleagues to ask them how far is too far? If I put my hands here, will your husband get annoyed? If I touch you in this manner, will your husband criticise it?” he added.

He said the conversation was necessary to ensure that nothing done during filming would create issues in Bambam’s marriage.

However, after the movie was released, rumours quickly began spreading online claiming that the two actors were secretly involved. Arukwe expressed surprise at the allegations and said some people even claimed they had been intimate.

“That movie was the first time I had ever met her. But people started saying we slept together and were dating, which was completely false,” he said.

Bambam is married to fellow reality TV star Tope Adenibuyan. Arukwe suggested that the rumours may have gained traction because many people were already aware of her marriage.

Despite the speculation, the actor maintained that their relationship was strictly professional and that nothing happened between them outside their roles in the film.
