The death of social media influencer, Michael Odeyemi Folorunsho popularly known as Yemitheplug early this week has generated several reactions on social media.

Michael suffered from an asthma attack in the wee hours of Tuesday, November 29 and was rushed to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

According to a witness account of Yemi's last moment, a nurse requested a means of identification before they could attend to him, others alleged that a nurse said they did not have oxygen for him.

The medics also allegedly refused to admit him or perform CPR on him because they ‘could not find a pulse’, claiming he was brought in dead.

His death has sparked an uproar among youths in the community and they staged a protest at the entrance of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, demanding for an explanation.

His friend and colleagues have trooped to various social media platforms to mourn his tragic demise.

drkalientegatsby commented: "Lack of manpower, poor pay, poorly retrained professionals thats if they were retrained, because hospitals are cutting costs, and doctors who are willing to work have left.

Delapidated hospitals, the leaders travel out or go to top notch Nigerian hospitals while the masses die in condemned hospitals. Nurses and doctors are not motivated and have no empathy because of how they are treated.....the RIPPLE EFFECT...EVERYONE GO FEEL AM. Same with police...same with military, same with you and I...everyone is now looking out for them selves."

sharon.chigozirim commented: "I think it’s best to go to private hospital in cases of emergencies"

sir_eltee commented: "The health sector is becoming something else. Saving the life of a patient should be number one priority, then you can ask questions later!"

1. Under no condition should you give someone who’s airway has been compromised or unconscious food or drink). This was most likely the cause of the death of this man( he must have aspirated).

2. Health workers are professionals who work under oath to save lives and they know what is required of them. A patient brought in with no pulses, dilated pupil and cold extremities?? That’s BID.

Maybe, just maybe the people on duty should have commenced CPR( I doubt anything would have happened, except a miracle).
For the body that was getting warm, that was all due to friction(the rubbing of the body extremities) and the content coming out is likely due to the compression of the stomach.

From the information given by the lady, this is not a case of hospital negligence. The likely cause of death has been explained earlier. May God give the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Why wouldn't they attend to an emergency case before demanding proof of identification!!! Kai na this kind thing make one man nearly kill doctor for Kaduna!"

kinky_vee commented: Awww Yemi! Don’t go to UPTH! Don’t go to UPTH! In case of emergency go to a private hospital. I’m in Port Harcourt and I’m telling you UPTH is a death sentence. No one goes there and gets out alive. The nurses and the doctors are blood suckers. RIP Yemi
