Popular Nigerian singer Joseph Akinwale Akinfenwa-Donus, professionally known as Joeboy, has expressed a strong desire for early marriage while declaring that any future wedding and family life will be kept strictly away from the public eye.
Speaking during an appearance on British media personality Madame Joyce's podcast, the 29-year-old Afrobeats star explained that starting a family early appeals to him, picturing a scenario where he enjoys raising teenage children while still in his 40s.
Joeboy disclosed that his perspective on early marriage was partly shaped by Nollywood actor Timini Egbuson, who publicly expressed regret over not marrying earlier despite his "playboy" reputation.
"I saw an interview of Timini. He's like the ideal playboy... and he was like, he wished he got married early," Joeboy said. "I was like, if you're a playboy and you can say this, that means marrying early might actually be nice... Being 40 and having a 16-year-old kid is cute."
However, the singer emphasized that even if he settles down soon, he has no intention of making the union public until much later in life.
"Personally, I would rather get married early. But if I get married right now, nobody is going to know," Joeboy stated. "Maybe when I have like three kids, people will now find out that Joeboy has a whole family somewhere."
