Veteran actor, Olaiya Igwe, has been summoned by the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners of Nigeria (TAMPAN), over his unclad video which he shared on social media.

Recall that the actor recently took to his social media page and shared a video of him unclad by the sea side, praying for the candidate of the All Progress Congress (APC), in the 2023 presidential election, Bola Tinubu, to win.

In the caption of the video he wrote: “It is my pleasure to support a candidate who truly reflects our values and highest ideals. There is one candidate in this election who will protect that dream. One leader who will fight hard to keep the promise of Nigeria for the next generation. And that’s why we must stand up and make ASIWAJU BOLA AHMED TINUBU JAGABAN the next president of Nigeria”.

His unclad video got social media users talking, users reported his Instagram page and his page was taken down.

In lieu of this, a disciplinary committee has been set up by TAMPAN to weigh into the matter and mete out some punishment to the actor for his action.

This was disclosed to Sunday Scoop by a TAMPAN executive, actress Rose Odika. The actress stated that Olaiya Igwe has been summoned to face a disciplinary committee but he is yet to honour the summon.

Rose Odika said: “He has the right to support whoever he wants to, but we have the moral justification angle. We are looking at the morality behind that advert (video). It is not about who he is supporting. It is about him breaching the code of ethics (of our association and industry.”

However Olaiya Igwe has denied being summoned by TAMPAN. When interviewed by Sunday Scoop, he stated that he is not aware of any disciplinary committee.

His words: “I don’t know who discussed that with you. I did not hear anything about that. God bless you.”
