Diverse viewpoints regarding the true motivation for some Nigerians' attendance at the COP28 Climate Change Summit have been shared by social media users.

While many attendees of the meeting are using it as a springboard to address climate change in their own nations, Nigerians in attendance cannot claim the same.

Recall that popular media personality Toke Makinwa faced backlash from online users after she disclosed that she was one of the delegates from Nigeria attending the summit.

Tensions escalated when an Indian woman going by the handle Manal Bidar posted on Twitter about how thrilled she was to be attending the summit and how she planned to use the chance to address climate change in her nation.

This sparked a conversation on social media as they brought up a post by Toke Makinwa, in which she posted a picture of herself wearing a gorgeous attire and said that she was having fun in Dubai.

Many have said that Nigerians merely went to the summit for fun because they don't care about climate change, while other nations attended to make positive changes in their own countries.
