TB Joshua’s death hit me harder than my parents' – Ghanaian boxer reveals

Popular Ghanaian boxer Michael Ayitey Okine, widely known as Ayitey Powers, has revealed that the death of Nigerian prophet TB Joshua affected him more deeply than the loss of his parents.

On Saturday, August 17, 2024, the boxer talked about his strong relationship with the late prophet and how often he sought counsel in an interview with Giovani Caleb on TV3's Showbiz 360.

Ayitey Powers remembered that TB Joshua had extended an invitation to visit his church shortly before his untimely death. Regretfully, the former boxer acknowledged that he was unable to go before learning of TB Joshua's passing.

He said, “Sometimes when I think about his death, I realize that God works in mysterious ways. How could Prophet TB Joshua die at that age? He called me to visit his church, but I delayed, and he passed away. He mentioned he wouldn’t celebrate his birthday, and we didn’t know he was going to die.

Ayitey Powers saw the Nigerian prophet as his spiritual father and would often pray at his church.

In honour of the prophet, he also planned a different burial in Ghana, complete with a large banner honouring the late man of God.
