Well-known Nollywood actress Stella Damsus has disclosed that her family name was Ojukwu before it was changed to Damasus.
The renowned actress discussed this in detail during a video chat with media personality, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu.
Stella Damasus claims that during the Nigerian civil war, her family's name was changed from Ojukwu.
According to her, at the time, it was thought to be connected to Ojukwu, a Biafran general, and people immediately assaulted everyone they thought was tied to him hence their name had to be changed.
She said, “My family name was Ojukwu but it was changed to Damasus during the civil war to avoid being attacked by Nigerian Soldiers…,” she said in part.
