Veteran Nigerian hip-hop icon Olusegun Osaniyi, popularly known as Lord of Ajasa, has officially become a citizen of the United States of America.

The indigenous Yoruba rap pioneer shared the milestone with fans via his official Instagram page, posting videos and photos alongside his wife, Funmi, celebrating the moment.

In one of the clips, Lord of Ajasa displayed his official US Certificate of Naturalization while holding the American flag, proudly announcing his updated legal status to his global followers.

"My fans, I’m now a US citizen; you all should know. This is my new country’s flag. I’m now fighting for my new country," the rapper stated in the video.

In an accompanying post featuring him and his wife posing with the American flag, the musician captioned the image with a simple message: "Thank You America."

Congratulatory messages have since poured in from colleagues, fans, and key figures across the Nigerian hip-hop community, celebrating the veteran artist's transition.

Emerging in the early 2000s, Lord of Ajasa is widely credited as the commercial trailblazer for modern indigenous Yoruba rap in mainstream Nigerian music, paving the way for artists like the late Dagrin, Olamide, and Reminisce.

He achieved national acclaim with breakout singles such as "Mai Lo," "Le Fenu So" (featuring 9ice), and "Esha Lo Bade," serving as a foundational bridge between early West African hip-hop and contemporary Afrobeats street culture.
