Spotify has released its highly anticipated 2025 Wrapped report, revealing a massive surge in Nigeria’s digital audio consumption.
According to the streaming giant, Nigerians spent over 1.3 billion hours listening to music and podcasts on Spotify throughout 2025, a staggering figure equal to 149,000 years of nonstop streaming.
The report shows that local music consumption grew by 82 percent compared to 2024, reflecting Nigerians’ increasing preference for homegrown sounds.
Daily streams on Spotify also rose by 23 percent, affirming the growing popularity of Afrobeats, Afro-fusion, highlife, and other indigenous genres.
Spotify also highlighted explosive growth in podcast listening across the country.
Hours spent on podcasts increased by 97 percent year-on-year, while podcast creation recorded a 48 percent rise, signaling that more Nigerians are not only listening but also joining the industry as creators. Conversations surrounding entertainment, lifestyle, mental health, and especially faith contributed heavily to this boom.
Faith-based and spirituality-led shows were among Nigeria’s top-streamed podcasts of 2025, indicating a strong appetite for inspirational and reflective content.
Spotify’s Listening Age data further revealed that the average Nigerian Spotify user is 25 years old, emphasizing that the country’s young population is driving this audio revolution.
In the music category, Wizkid emerged as the most-streamed Nigerian artiste of 2025, maintaining his long-standing dominance both at home and internationally.
His influence, catalog strength, and cross-genre appeal once again positioned him at the top of the nation’s Wrapped results.
The 2025 Wrapped insights also highlighted the unique blend of gospel and secular music enjoyed by Nigerian listeners, a trend that gospel singer Dunsin Oyekan acknowledged while reacting to the results.
