In a surprising turn of events, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has reportedly ordered the immediate arrest of popular radio presenter Penny Ntuli and her friend after a viral video showed them twerking on the side of a busy road.
The incident, which quickly spread across social media, sparked heated debate among South Africans.
While some saw it as harmless fun, authorities deemed the act reckless, stressing that such behavior could distract motorists, potentially causing accidents and endangering both drivers and pedestrians.
According to reports, the president described the act as shameless and dangerous.
"I have seen a video of a certain radio host from our country. I think her name is Penny Ntuni, if I'm not wrong. Now, this radio host is twerking on a very busy road. The cars and transits are passing by, and she's just twerking shamelessly. I am ordering the immediate arrest of that female radio host," the president said in the video.
Law enforcement has been instructed to take swift action against Ntuli and her companion.
Critics, however, argue that the arrest order might be an overreaction, suggesting the matter could have been handled with a warning or fine.
Others believe it sets an important precedent to discourage risky stunts on public roads.
