Afrobeats sensation Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, recently returned to his roots in Benin City, Edo State, sparking excitement among residents and fans.
Videos circulating online captured the singer strolling through familiar streets from his childhood, stopping to take photos in front of old houses and warmly greeting locals who were thrilled to see him back home.
One of the clips that gained significant attention showed Rema attending a church service with his mother. His presence in the congregation quickly drew murmurs and excitement from worshippers.
During the service, a pastor publicly acknowledged the Mavin Records star and his mother, showering praises on Rema’s appearance.
“You look more handsome physically than in pictures,” the pastor remarked, as the singer stood out with his braided hairstyle and black sunglasses.
The moment sparked reactions across social media, with fans sharing their thoughts on the warm reception he received.
It will be recalled that in 2024, during his homecoming concert in Benin City, Rema pledged a generous donation of ₦105 million to the Benin branch of Christ Embassy.
He announced that ₦85 million would be given to the church, while ₦20 million was donated to a widow in the congregation.
Rema’s recent visit once again highlights his strong connection to his hometown and the community that shaped him.
