'Praying for people already passed is a joke' - Frank Edwards reacts to Jos killings

Nigerian gospel singer Frank Edwards has spoken out following the deadly Palm Sunday attack in Jos, criticizing what he described as the cycle of praying, posting victims’ images, and quickly moving on.

Reacting to the March 29 massacre in Angwan Rukuba, where gunmen reportedly killed more than 20 residents, Edwards said the repeated pattern of mourning online without demanding lasting solutions has become ineffective.

According to him, Nigerians often pray for the dead, share graphic images, and move on after a few days, while the insecurity persists.

The gospel artiste urged Christians, whom he described as the “salt of the earth,” to go beyond prayers and put pressure on the government to improve security and protect lives.

His remarks come amid growing outrage over the latest killings in Plateau State, with several groups and leaders already demanding stronger security action and justice for the victims.

The statement has since sparked conversations online, with many agreeing that while prayers remain important, stronger civic action and government accountability are urgently needed.
