Well-known Nigerian media personality Tolu Oniru better known as Toolz has stated that if she were president, individuals would need to get permission before hosting podcasts.

Before approving such a request, she claimed she would also put aspiring podcasters through a mental examination.

Toolz made this statement in her most recent podcast 'The Off Air Show'.

She said: “If I was ever to become President, you would have to apply to do a podcast. You will have to write an English proficiency test and also do a sanity test,” she said.

Nigeria is experiencing a boom in podcast culture, with many of its hosts and guests igniting debates on social media with their "outrageous" assertions and "provocative" remarks.

As a result, some social media users have demanded that podcasting be restricted in Nigeria.

The Honest Bunch podcast, Bahd and Boujee, Tea with Tay, Toke Moments and I Said What I Said are some notable podcasts in Nigeria.
