Nana Otedola, wife of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, has addressed public misconceptions about her nationality and ethnic background.
In a video circulating online with her daughter, Temi Otedola, Nana stated that she is not a Ghanaian, despite frequent assumptions to the contrary.
She confirmed that her roots are in Abeokuta, Ogun State, and that she is an Egba woman.
“To clear the room for everybody, I’m an Egba woman, and that’s the part I’ll gladly claim as a Nigerian. I am not a Ghanaian; my roots are in Abeokuta,” she said.
Nana Otedola explained that she was born in Kaduna State and lived there for nearly two decades.
“I was born in Kaduna and lived there for almost two decades,” she said.
She noted that her time in different parts of Nigeria may have contributed to confusion about her identity, but her ethnic heritage remains Egba.
She also shared that her full name is Nana Fatima, a name given to her by her grandfather during her ‘Sunnah.’
“I go by the name Nana Fatima, given to me on my ‘Sunnah’ by my grandfather,” she added.
Over the years, social media users have incorrectly assumed she has Ghanaian roots.
