Not 100 hours, Hilda Baci cooked for 93 hours - Guinness World Record reveals

Guinness World Records named Nigerian chef Hilda Baci the new record holder for the longest cooking by an individual on Tuesday, June 13.

GWR in a statement on its official website; "Following a thorough review of all the evidence, Guinness World Records can now confirm that Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci, has officially broken the record for the longest cooking marathon (individual), with a time of 93 hours 11 minutes."

Hilda turned on her stove on Thursday, May 11 in an attempt to break the previous record held by an Indian chef, Lata Tondon.

On Monday, May 15, she achieved her target after clocking 100 hours.

Hilda's accomplishment was recognized by Guinness World Records, however, it was revealed that she cooked for 93 hours and 11 minutes and not 100 hours.

The GWR said that Hilda's excessive breaks while cooking were to blame for this.

It highlighted other reasons why her time was slashed by seven hours.
